The Blood of Jesus

blood_jesusIf you long for forgiveness, if you want healing, if you want to be cleansed from thoughts that haunt you, if you want to be made well, if you want grace, mercy and forgiveness-all you need is to come to Jesus. You might be thinking, ‘But you don’t know what I’ve done with these hands, I’ve handled things I ought not to have handled, I’ve touched stuff that I ought not to have touched.’ Those hands were pierced, when they nailed Him to the cross of Calvary. I’ve thought things that were impure, not right, not true, not good. Well the blood flowed from His head for you when they crushed a crown of thorns onto His head. I’ve walked where I ought not to have walked, well blood flowed from His feet when they nailed Him to that tree.

Maybe you’re thinking, ‘I’ve turned my back on the Lord, I’ve walked away from the Lord.’ Well they took a flagellum and they whipped His back and blood flowed from His back. Maybe you’re thinking, it’s things that are inside me, I have bitterness towards her and I’m angry at them. Well blood flowed from His side when they took a spear and pierced Him in the side. Please understand, Jesus bled for you. He knows your sins. He knows what you’ve done, what you’ve thought, what you’re going to do. He died for you, so that your sins could be dealt with, His blood flowed for you. What can wash away our sin? What can make us whole again? Nothing, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
