Why do we seek the living among the dead?

Jesus is resurrected. His body healed, complete, perfect in all ways except one. His scars remained. His scars remain to prove that He went through that awful ordeal on the cross. His scars remained to tell a story. His scars remained as proof, as evidence of who He was and the miracle to top all miracles for all time.

Even Moses standing before a burning bush was reminded by God almighty that he need not approach in haste or to consider the ground where God had chosen to meet with Moses as ordinary. Moses was cautioned to keep his distance and to remove his sandals. God declared who He was and Moses hides his face from God because Moses is afraid.

My Identity in Jesus

We let our faith and belief be shaped by what we see around us and what we feel as well as whether this whole “doing” thing is working. We’re Americans after all. If it doesn’t work, why bother to keep trying? But being a Christian is far more than what you do. When was the last time you fell prostrate on your face before the Lord realizing how small you were and how awesome He really is?? When was the last time you trembled before our God?

You Only Live Once

I look around and I see many Christians who are living with little or no joy. We’re all so caught up in our goals and mental checklists that we’ve lost all happiness or appetite for this moment right now. We’re either trying so hard to make it to the next rung on the ladder or to make tonight the “best night of our lives” that we’re secretly depressed on the inside.

The truth is that God is God and we are not. He is the one who has made us. He is the one who calls the shots. He knows what He wants to do with us. He is the one who is in charge. He is the one who loves us. He is the one who knows the number of hairs on our heads. He is the one who was there at the beginning and He is the only one guaranteed to be there at the end.
